本系成立於民國六十年(1971)，為台灣設立最早之輔導諮商科系(參看天下雜誌2020報導本校學生輔導中心)，也是彰化師大創校之系，目前共有全博士級專任教師22位，包括教授9名、副教授7名、助理教授6名，半數以上具台灣與美國之國家級諮商心理師或社會工作師證照，是全國輔導與諮商專業教師人數最多的系所，本系師長歷任本校校長、副校長、主任秘書、教務長、學務長、總務長、教育學院院長、師資培育中心主任、通識教育中心主任、學生心理諮商與輔導中心主任、社區諮商與潛能發展中心主任以及研究倫理審查委員會主任委員，教育部訓育委員會常委、台灣省教育廳廳長、彰化縣政府教育處處長、彰化縣家庭教育中心主任等，是行政主管最多的系所，本系師長更歷任台灣輔導與諮商學會、台灣遊戲治療學會、台灣沙遊治療學會、台灣心靈健康資訊協會、台灣統計方法學學會、女學會、中華本土社會科學會、世界本土諮商心理學推動聯盟等國內外專業學會之理事長，是學會會長最多的系所，更有六位專任教授榮獲教育界最高學術榮譽：木鐸獎，師資陣容，全國最優。無論是申請入學、繁星推薦或考試分發您當然要選擇彰師大輔諮系。

GC, NCUE was established in 1971, along with the establishment of NCUE, is also the first department of guidance and counseling in Taiwan(Look up here). So far, our core faculty has 22 teachers, including 9 professors, 7 associate professors, and 6 assistant professors. Over half of them have Taiwan national and state (USA) licenses of counseling psychologists or social workers. In other words, we have the biggest number of excellent teachers among all departments of guidance and counseling in Taiwan. We have the most administration supervisors in NCUE, too. President, Vice president, Secretary-general, Dean of Academic Affairs, Dean of Student Affairs, Dean of General Affairs, Dean of College of Education, Chair of Center for Teacher Education, Chair of Center for General Education, Chair of Student Counseling & Guidance Center, Chair of Community Counseling & Human Development Service Center, Chair of Research Ethics Committee, etc., are included. Not only these school administration supervisors have but also many presidents of various associations, such as Taiwan Guidance and Counseling Association, Association for Taiwan Play Therapy, Taiwanese Society for Sandplay Therapy, Taiwan Association of Mental Health Informatics, Taiwanese Association for Statistical Methodology, Taiwanese Feminist Scholars Association, Chinese Indigenous Social Science Association, World Indigenous Counseling Psychology Alliance and so on. Our full-time teachers are so excellent that 6 of them were awarded the biggest academic honor in the educational community "Wood Bell Award"(Distinguished Scholar Award, 木鐸獎).
